CHARLTON LAKES GOLF CLUB CONSTITUTION
Club Aims
The Charlton Lakes Golf Club (the Club) will provide recreational and competitive golf for its members on the Charlton Lakes Golf Course (the Course).
The committee shall comprise at least 3 elected members.
Membership shall be by enrolment. There will be no membership fees. Members must provide the committee with their:
Handicaps The committee will allocate handicaps to members who submit 3 complete scorecards, certified by an independent marker. Players intending to submit a scorecard for handicap validation must state their intention to do so before starting play.
Such handicaps will only be valid for games played on the Course.
Handicaps will be adjusted from time to time by the committee based on performance in stroke-play events.
To retain a handicap, members must compete and submit completed scorecards in at least 3 stroke-play, club competitions each year. The year will be from 1st April until 1st April the following year.
Club Meetings The committee will arrange regular club meetings to facilitate social and competitive games. All games shall be played on the Course. A programme of meetings will be published from time to time. The normal "Places for People" course fees will be charged for each round.
Course Rules The committee will publish, and amend as necessary, a set of Local Course Rules as a guide to the local playing conditions of the Course.
Competitions Rules Competitions will be played on the Course in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Local Course Rules.
Only players with a Course Handicap may compete in competitions. The entry fee for each competition will be £1 coin, monetary notes will not be accepted. Entry Fees will be distributed as prizes to the winner(s). The committee will decide what prizes are awarded.
Exceptionally, in trophy competitions, the entry fee will be £2. The winner will receive the trophy and the entry fees will be retained to cover the cost of engraving
Players without handicaps may enter competitions, without paying the entry fee, solely to complete a card for submission for handicap validation. They will not be eligible for prizes.
Competitions may be either stroke-play (medal) competitions or one of a variety of alternative formats. The committee will decide the format of each competition and provide written guides for the conduct of any alternative format.
In the event of a tie resulting in a competition, the winner will be decided by “countback”, using the following scores in order:
The committee will have the right to amend or alter the competition rules and will publish any amendment before the new rules take force.
Communication. Information, Club meeting schedules and other communications with members will be by email, the Club web site and notices published on the Club notice board in the Pavilion.
Changes to the Constitution shall be proposed by the Committee and will be effected by a simple majority vote at a general meeting of the Club’s members.

- Best score over last 6 holes
- Best score over last 3 holes
- Best score at the last (18th) hole
- Best progressive total beginning at the hole with stroke index 1 and progressing in stroke index order until a result is obtained.
The committee will have the right to amend or alter the competition rules and will publish any amendment before the new rules take force.
