This fun event comprised 2 competitions in one; the best medal round and the fewest puts.
Two-thirds of the players returned scores of net par or better and Rick Poyser was the best of the bunch with a 4-under par. Paul Ayling completed 9 consecutive holes using only 10 puts and that enabled him to take the prize for fewest puts with a total of 23. Derek Grimston won the first club medal since the lock-down with a net score of 51, 3-under par.
There was a tight battle between Roger Stevens and Peter Merry for second place. Both tied on their total score (52). The count-back rule was applied. Both had a net 27 over the last 9 holes. Applying the second test, the best last 6 holes showed that Roger's net 20 was beaten by Peter's 19 (taking handicaps into account). |
